LEGISLATION IN BRITAIN GENERAL STRIKE ILLEGAL (Rec. December 7, 5.5 p m.) London, December 7. Cabinet to-day will considet the final draft of a Bill dealing with trade unions. It is expected that a general strike will be made illegal, a political levy will be made more a matter of option, picketing will exclude house-to-house visits and mass picketing. COOK IN MOSCOW “CONTINUATION OF STRUGGLE NOT FAR OFF.” (Rec. December 7, 5.5 p.m.) Riga, December 7. Mr. A. J. Cook {secretary of the British Miners’ Federation) has arrived in Moscow. In an interview he declared that the continuation of the mining struggle was not far off. THE YALLOURN STRIKE BOTH SIDES HOPEFUL OF SETTLEMENT. Melbourne, December 7., The strike position at Yallouru is unchanged, but a conference between the Commissioners and the Trades Hal] Disputes Committee has been arranged for. Both sides are hopeful that a settlement will be reached. The cessation of coal-cutting operations will begin to affect the powerhouse after the end of this week unless a settlement is reached. Restrictions on the consumption of electricity will then be enforced.
