As a sequel to the advocacy of the ‘Melbourne Age” for a theatre where the better type of plays could be pro duced for the benefit of appreciative if comparatively restricted audiences an announcement is made bv Stt G Tallis, on behalf of J C Williamson Ltd that that firm will commence at an earlv date the erection of a new theatre on a site opposite His Majesty - Theatre, at the corner of Exhibition and Lonsdale Streets ft will have a frontage of 100 ft to Exhibition Street, and a~deptb of 135 ft < mg Lonsdah Street The theatre will accommodate 1000 people and is intended for the production of comedies, repertory, and other plays which require a small or “intimate’' theatre.
