STRUCK BY LIGHTNING

WORKER’S TRAGIC DEATH Dominion Special. Auckland, December 2. Struck by lightning during a violent thunderstorm at Nyalla (Sydney) last week, death came with tragic suddenness to John Mercer Baxter. Along with others, Baxter was working on the foundations of a building in course of construction, and seeing the storm approaching he and his mates ran for shelter. When the storm appeared to have passed over they retraced their steps, but had barely reached the open when there came a blinding flash of lightning which struck Baxter,. killing him instantly, and seriously injuring his nearest mate. Deceased was a married man 30 years of age, and was the onlv son of Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Baxter, late of Auckland, now residing at Glen Afton.
