! TOWN AND COUNTRY. . Miss E. Ward, late of Marton, has been. appointed to a position with the Wanganui Library. i Mrs. T. Duncan and ( Miss Duncan, of Hunterville, have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. N. Blackmore, of Palmerston North. Mrs. Dowsett and Mrs. Edmunds are visiting Otaki. Mr. Neil Campbell, of Hawke’s Bay, I lias been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. R. Levin, “Westella," Feilding. Mr. and Mrs. J. Bett and Miss Bett have returned to Palmerston North, after a long stay 1 in England and on 1 the Continent. ~ , Mr. and Mrs. Corbett, of Highden, Awahuri, were recently farewelled by a large circle of friends at the resi--1 / deuce of Mr. O'Driscoll, on the occasion of their departure to their new home at Manakau. Mr. O’Driscoll, in a brief speech, referred to the many good qualities of the guests of the I evening, and expressed the desire, on behalf of those present, that Mr. aud Mrs. Corbett would meet with happiness and prosperity in their new surroundings. During the evening songs i and other musical items were render--1 ed, while dancing was indulged in until a late hour.
Owing to the conditions of things in London at present Madame and Mr Menere, the well-known fur merchants cable that they have secured a very fine assortment of Marmot and Musquash Coats at a very cheap price They have purchased for cash over 500 coats in one line alone, and these will 1 be shown in New Zealand early next year.—Advt.
