A meeting of the Wellington Centre on Wednesday night was attended by by the new ladies club, the Appollonia Ladies’ Amateur Swimming Club, which was approved of unanimously. Ml. 1 - Coira is the delegate tor the club. The colours of the club are blue costume with a gold monogram. The Hutt Valley Hi£l' bebool piocraiiime was approved of for December 11. This event will take place at the H The centre’s next carnival (No. 2) will take place on December 18. Ihe programme will be kept as uew as possible from the previous one, and the centre will stage the Wellington Centre's .K)y<ls. championship, a uew, spectacular.' fast event, in which no doubt there will be numerous competitors, such as Blakeley, Leask. Watson. Claridge, Murrell. Cameron, tbe brothers Look, McHardy, Alexander nnd others The polo will be of a high standard, and a good start was made in this direction when Wellington beat the Navy at the Tepid Baths 2 to nil. it is probable that the Wanganui Centre will semi some swimmers to Wellington for these carnivals, as they have written making inquiries. Dowsett, of Wanganui, the 100yds. New Zealand champion, was invited for tbe carnivals on December I or 18, but owing to injuries to his leg be could not accept. Still, we may be fortunate to see him later. It is pleasing to note that the council are considering letting the centre have t.ie baths fairly regularly: this will be a great help to swimming and very satisfactory to those who give their all in the interests nf the sport unselfishly.
