A variety of interesting subjects is pictorially dealt with in this week’s issue. The opening dav of the Takapuna Jockey Club’s meeting is represented in an animated series of snapshots. The Otahuhu Trotting Club’s gathering also occupies generous space, with incidents of the recent meeting. The centre page depicts London firefighting, scenes in the Alps, Paris children, and German Army manoeuvres. Of general interest are the photographs showing the Maori football team in their victorious match. against Somerset. Another fine page, is devoted to the group of 1500 pupils photographed at the Shelly Beach Baths, including a demonstration by the instructor. Hill-climbing tests on Mount Roskill form another thrilling section, and the sculling match at Whangarei will also make a strong appeal. The Auckland Kennel Club’s dog show has an attractive showing. From overseas arc striking photographs of the Horse. Guards’ parade, the Queen of Rumania’s visit to America, the Hon. J. G, Coates in London, the Duke and Duchess of York at Edinburgh. The Stage and motion pictures have an exceptionally interesting representation. The Christmas number of the “Review” appears, next week, containing the most striking selection of illustrations yet comprised in a holiday number. The “Review” is on sale at all booksellers and stationers.—Atirt.
