WEATHER FOR NOVEMBER Wellington’s weather for the month was remarkable for the number of rainy days that were experienced, and for tlie quantity of rain that fell during the month. The total rainfall, 4.83 inches, is 41 per cent, above the mean for the month during previous years. The heaviest fall, amounting to 1.49 inches, occurred on the 27th. Hail fell once only during the month, on the night of the 28th. During the month north-westerlv winds predominated, and the average temperature, which was 56 degrees, was 6.8 degrees below the average for former years. The highest recorded mer years. The highest recorded temperature was on the 19th, when 65.2 degrees was registered, while the lowest temperature, 40.7 degrees, was recorded on the 9th. No frosts occurred during the month, but the lowest grass temperature, 33.1 degrees, was also registered on the 9th. Earth temperatures were above the average for previous years. At a depth of'one foot it was 0.2 degees above the average, and at three feet the average was exceeded by 1.6 degrees. Bright sunshine was recorded on twenty-nine davs during the month, the total, 200 hours 5 minutes, being 46 per cent, of the possible. This was only 3 hours 38 minutes below the mean for previous years. Winds were very consistent during the month, and the average, 297 miles per day, was 19 miles per day above the average for previous years. The maximum velocity for twenty-four hours was recorded on the morning of the sth, when 583 miles were registered. The lowest reading for twenty-four hours was recorded on the 9th, when only 115 miles were registered. The average barometric pressure during the month was 29.766, which is one-tenth below the average for previous years. The highest reading, 30.205, was recorded on the 22nd, and the lowest, 29.279 on the 15th.

Onlv once since meteorological observations were first taken at Auckland has the rainfall for the month of November exceeded the total registered last month. The fall for November of this vear amounted to 7.54 in., while the record of 7.74 in. was registered in 1916.
