TROTTING RACES AT HUTT PARK NEXT WEEK Tho Wellington Trotting Club will hold its summer race meeting at Hutt Park on Wednesday and Saturday of next week. On the first day a special fast class mile and a quarter will be contested and on the second day the Champions’ Short Limit Handicap will bring together a field consisting of such star performers as Great Bingen, Prince Pointer, Logan Chief, Onyx, Native Chief, Acron, Waitaki Girl, and Imprint. The High Class Trotters’ Handicap has also filled well and admirers of the straight out trotter will see the, best in Now Zealand contesting tho special class for these competitors on each day. The New Zealand Trotting Gold Cup is the principal event on tho first day and an excellent field of handicap performers has been drawn together in this event Goldman was withdrawn on the appearance of the handicaps; but the stable has a stronger representative in Direct Morning on 24 yards behind. This importation from Australia has a great reputation in Auckland and has put np some excellent work on the tracks. He ran twice at the recent Otahuhu meeting; but according to the Auckland correspondent of a southern exchange little notice can be taken, of /he form shown there. Direct Morning is expected to run prominently, especially in view of the withdrawal of his stable-mate Goldman who was very leniently treated in the handicap. • The slower classes have filled well and unite an invasion of beginners from Canterbury stables is anticipated. Abe I class for novices at. Wellington is much [ easier than can be obtained in the

south and sterling contests are anticipated. Tom Thumb has been well treated in bein’ left on the limit in the Gold Cup with Master Councillor and Jewel Pointer, neither of which can be looked upon as being in his class Tom Thumb put up some sterling performances last season and won easily at two miles at the August meeting at AddingAcceptances for all events at the Wellington Trotting Club’s meeting (first dav), close on Friday. < The tracks at the Hutt Park were never in better condition than at present. and the club lins erected a number of new buildings which will be greatly appreciated by the sporting public.
