PARTY’S FUNDS . DOUBLED BY SALE OF PAPERS

London, November 29. It is understood that' Mr. Lloyd George made at least a million sterling profit for the Liberal Party by the sale of the "Daily Chronicle” and other publications, thns doubling the party’s funds. The “Chronicle” and the “Sunday News” cost Mr. Lloyd George £l,600,000 in 1918, and the company had since acquired two or three other papers, all of which are now being sold at about three millions. [A group of Calcutta merchants, including the Earl of Reading (chairman), Sir David Yule, and Sir Thomas Cato, has purchased Mr.. Lloyd George’s controlling interests in Newspapers, Limited. It'has been announced that the newspapers affected, including the "Daily Chronicle,” will follow a policy of progressive Liberalism.]
