EVENING MEETING N.Z. LADIES’ 100 YARDS RECORD BROKEN Part of the sports programme which was arranged to be uelu on Saturday last; and which was post joined on account of the wet weather, was held last evening at the Basin Reserve , before a large number of spectators, lhe most important event decided was the ladies’ relay race for the Eteveneaux Cup, the two competing teams being Wellington and Poverty Bay. The Wellington girls made the best of the exchanges and won by several yards, lhe captain of the team (Miss R. Manton) was presented at the conclusion of the event with by the cup by ‘Miss New Zealand" (Miss McMillan), who was accompanied by her maid of honour (Miss I. Wilson) and Miss D. McCubbin (Miss Wellington). Cheers were given for "Miss New Zealand” at ihe end of the ceremony. In the ItOyds. ladies’ scratch race Miss N. Eastwood (Poverty Bay) broke the New Zealand record for ladies by doing the distance in 11 3-ssec., the previous record being that of Miss Maxwell, who, took a second longer.
