JWANAWATU v. WELLINGTON TEAMS FOR TO-DAY’S MATCH AT BASIN RESERVE Advantage is being taken of the holiday to-day in honour of St. Andrew’s Day to play a match between Mana■watu and Wellington elevens at the Basin Reserve. The teams will be as follow . Manawatu.—Cooper, Day, Murray, Donaldson-, McVicar, Mullins, Galli chan, Norris, Snullie? Broughton, and Spring, with Mr. J. Smith as manager. 'Wellington.—J. S. Hiddleston, K. James, J. Hutchings, K. Mason, W. Airey, J. Virtue, L. Browne, A. Grant, B. Massey, A. C. Tripe, and J. bitzmaurice. . Hope, Deiderich, Leet, and Pacey were Unable to accept places in the JWanawatu team, which will be captained by Cooper. The visitors will arrive by the Limited express this morning. It is a matter for regret that R. W. Hope, the fast bowler, who toured Australia with the. New Zealand team last season, will be unable to appear with the Manawatu team, as his presence would have lent additional interest to the match. BOYS’ LEAGUE. Boys’ League fixtures for. WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION SENIOR FIXTURES AMENDED A meeting, of the committee of the Wellington Cricket .association was held lasi night, Mr. C. G. Wilson presiding. The following members were present:— Messrs. W. li. Bock, H. J. -Buck, W J. R. Christopherson, C. Drummond, R S. Johnston, H. M. McGirr, D. McKen zie, 4,. itonaldson, and A. Varney. It, was announced that the umpires for ■ to-day's match between Wellington jpa Manawatu, which is to begin at 10 ‘a.m., .will be P. Bevan and W.. Toomath After the match the visitors will ba entertained at tea, and will leave for the north by the Limited Express. A letter was received from the Hutl Club in reference to the state of -the wicket bn October 30. It was stated that the club bad received a verba) assurance that everything possible would be done to prevent a recurrence of the conditions complained of. Under the circumstances. nothing more could be done A letter from the Otago Association was read, asking the Wellington Asso ciation to submit the names of four umpires for the match between Wellington and Otago, which is to be played al Wellington on December 27 and 28. The chairman stated tliat arrangements had been made for accommodation, and tha. the question of umpires would bo dealt with at the next meeting of the I'm pires’ Association. Amended Fixtures. On behalf of the Senior Championship Committee, Mr. H. J. Buck reported that the fixtures for December 4 and 11 had been airg'nded. It was practical!} certain, he considered, that the eighth and ninth series w.ould not be played That the committee had put the Mid-land-Wellington fixture on the Hutt ground, in order to even up to some extent the travelling of the various teams The revised list of senior fixtures foi December i and 11 is as follows: — Petone v. Hutt, at Petone; Thorndon v, Kilbirnie, at Kilbirnie;, Midland v. Wellington, at Hutt: Old Boys y. In. Btitute. at Basin No. 2; ’Varsity v. Y.M.C.A., at Basin No. 1. The Basin Reserve. Mr. Buck showed the committee sain, pics of Masterton soil which it was proposed should be used on the Basin Keserve. These samples seemed to meet with the approval of the committee. Air. Buck reported that the large scoring board at the Basin Reserve was looking very dilapidated. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the Championship Committee. Another matter needing consideration, •aid Mr. Buck, was the championship wicket on the Basin Reserve, fhe custodian had asked that Player? would be asked to treat the wicket with more respect, and Mr. Buck wished to bring the P need for this before the various clubs.
