<f Treland aud the Imperial Conference” was the subject of an address delivered bv Mr. G. Griffin, under the auspices of the Irish Republican Association of New Zealand, last evening. The speaker stated that the participation of the Free State delegates in the Imperial Conference was not tn accord with Irish aspirations, and that these aspirations could not be realised within the Empire. He denied (hat there was such a thing as the Commonwealth or British nations, and this was supported bv the fact that three out of every five of its inhabitants were coloured, and governed without their consent. The (rend of the Dominions, contended the speaker, was towards independence Canada in particular coming under the financial sway of America. Ireland was becoming depopulated, nnd the misery of the people was increasing under tlrn Free Slate regime, (he, only •hope being a renewal of the struggle for an independent republic.
