TO TOUR NEW ZEALAND THIS SEASON.
Adelaide, November 27. At a special meeting of the Cricket Association it was recommended that the ground and finance committee nuthorise a trip to New Zealand at the end of the season. . A large number of players, including A. and V. Richardson. Grimmett. Gunn. Scott, Parry. Pritchard, and Rundell have signified their willingness to participate in the tour. It is expected that the team will comprise fourteen players. SHEFFIELD SHIELD MATCH (Rec. November 28, 5.5 p.m.) Brisbane, November 28. The Sheffield Shield match between New South Wales and Queensland was continued yesterday. Queensland, in the first innings, made 356 (Higgins 36, R. Oxenham 57, Thompson 131). Morgan took three wickets for 85; Campbell, six for 118. New South Wales in the second innings was two wickets down for 157 (Phillips 32, Steele not out 67, Kippax not out 53). The weather was fine and the wicket good. Thompson played a brilliant and flawless innings, including sixteen 4’s. In partnership with R. Oxenham he treated the spectators to a most forceful and productive display of interesting batting. Campbell’s bowling was of a high class order and kept most of the batsmen strictly on the defensive. ’ New South Wales in the first innings made 280. LEADING SCORES IN SYDNEY (Rec. Tn the cricket competition Ohl Collegians, who had made 115 in their first innings, put on 94 ior seven in the second. Old Boys, in their first innings, made 120 for nitp? wickets (declared). We-t Christ church made 162 in their first innings last week, and St. Albans replied with 363 (Crawford 134, Sandman pot out 37, Fallonn 68). On the first day Sydenham made 145 and T,inwood 61 for four. Continuing to-day, Linwood brought the total to 170. Sydenham, in their second strike, put on 77 for two. East Christchurch made 15S in their first innings against Riccarton (Gregory 53). Ricearion, who had made 206 in 'the first, put on 76 for three in the second. AUCKLAND. Auckland, November 28. Cricket championships: Y.M.C.A.. 137, beat Ponsonby. 1.32 and five for 72; Eden, 34,3, drew with Grafton, four for 163; Shore A 164, heat Parnell, 112; ’Varsity, 462, bent Shore B. 92 and six for 80.
