IDLE AND DISORDERLY

A PECULIAR CASE.

Dominion Special. Cliristehurch, November 26. “I did the best I could under the circumstances to uphold ray character,” was the remark of Kenneth Neil MacDonald, a horse trainer, aged 28, in pleading guilty before Mr. H. I’. Lawry, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, this morning, to a charge of being an idle and disorderly person. It was a rather peculiar case, said Senior-Sergeant 11. Martin. MacDonald had been sleeping on the racecourse, and went to different people in the locality for food. He was arrested yesterday morning when sleeping on the grass at the racecourse. He seemed to be rather weak mentally. ■ Accused said he had been given some work at the racecourse, but was without food for several days and lost his poaition through weakness. He was remanded for a week for medical treatment.
