WAIKAREMOANA SCHEME SEVERAL CONTRACTS LET Several important contracts in connection with the Waikaremoaua hydroelectric development scheme were ap- ■ proved by Cabinet this week. According to an announcement made by the Minister of Public Works (Hon. K. S. Williams) yesterday, the successful tenderers were as under :— Section 12: Pipe lines—Dunedin Engineering and Steel Company, Ltd., £57,869 4s. Section 13: Generators —Metropolitan Vickers Electrical Company Ltd., £29,242. Turbines—Sir W. G. Armstrong, Whitworth, and Company Ltd., £21,686. Section 14: Indoor control gear and switch gear—Cory, Wright, and Salmon (on behalf of English Electric Company Ltd.), £5424. Section 17: 110.000 volt transformers —Metropolitan Vickers Electrical Company Ltd., £15,794.
