TWO HOURS’ HEAVY RAIN
PHENOMENAL DOWNPOUR IN DUNEDIN By telegraph.—Press association. Dunedin, November 26. Heavy rain was experienced in the city tliis afternoon. The downpour was a phenomenal one, and continued for a couple of hours without any apparent let-up. Though no serious damage was reported, considerable inconvenience was caused at intersections in the city, where both foot and vehicular traffic was exceptionally heavy* with the 5 o’clock rush. The storm channels were unable to carry the heavy volume of water that rushed down from the hill streets. The Maori Hill tram-line was submerged at one point, and .covered to a depth of several inches with gravel, with the result that a tram was derailed and considerable delay caused. Towards nightfall the rain ceased, but the weather is still threatening.
