His Majesty the King gave an audience to Sir Janies Parr on his appointment as High Commissioner for New Zealand in London.

The Minister of Health (Hou. J. A. Young) returned to Wellington from Te Kuiti yesterday.

The Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. R. F. Bollard) returned to, Wellington yesterday. During his visit to the Manawatu district, Air. Bollard, in company with the Hon. E. Newman, C AI.G., AI.L.C., and Messrs. F. F. Hockly and J. Linklater, Al.P.’s, visited Flock House for boys and girls. His Honour Mr. J.uctice Ostler returned to Wellington yesterday from Napier and Gisborne, where he has been engaged on circuit. Mr. and Airs. Al. Myers, of Wellington, who are visiting England, propose leaving on their return to New Zealand by the Aloldavia on December 17.

Air. L. C. Webb, sub-editor of the “Southland Times,” has been appointed to a position on the editorial staff of the Christchurch “Press.”

Mr. T Dwan was a passenger per Alarama yesterday on a flying business visit to Sydney.

Mr. R. F. Fortune, M.A., late of Victoria University College, has been .granted a bursary by Cambridge University, in addition to the travelling scholarship awarded him by the New Zealand University to aid in his research studies, and is now in residence at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. Mr. Hugh J. Ward, who has been engaged on community work since his arrival in Wellington last week, will leave for the south on Monday evening, and will join the Maheno at Dunedin for Alelbourne on Thursday next. Mrs. Ward, accompanied by her son, Mr. Mel. Ward; will leave Sydney by the Sonoma next week on an extended holiday tour of America and Europe. Mr. Hugh Ward may join them in England early next year.

Commissioner and Airs Hay, of the Salvation Army, were passengers by the Limited express last night for Auckland. They will be absent from Wellington for about a fortnight, during which time they will pay an initial visit to the inebriate institutions at Roto Roa and I'akatoa Islands, and the Boys’ Training Farm at Putaruru. They will also conduct public meetings at various centres in the Auckland Province.
