ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers for tire next two years by members of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants is now proceeding. Voting papers have been distributed to all parts of New Zealand, and these are to be returned to Wellington by December 1, when the counting will be commenced. It is not anticipated that the results of the election will be available until the second week in December. For the position of a general secretary to succeed Mr. M. J. Mack, who has resigned, there are four candidates—Messrs. T. Carlyle (Wanganui), T. Glasgow (Auckland), M. Lee, and L. Mcilvride (Napier). It is stated that Messrs. Glasgow and Mcilvride are expected to poll heavily, and that the real contest lies between them. Mr. Glasgow has on several occasions relieved Mr. Mack, and has been a member of the executive for some time. Mr Mcilvride is a well-known member of the Labour Party, and represented Napier in the last Parliament, lie was defeated bv, Mr. J. Mason at the last general election. Mr. Carlyle is at present president of the society,, and Mr. Lee is an ex-member of the executive.

Members of tbe society will also elect members of the executive council and delegates to the annual conference.
