The reconstruction of the Manuka Gorge road, so long the bugbear of motorists proceeding to Lawrence, is now almost completed, and great credit is due to the engineer responsible for bringing it to the present state (says the “Otago Daily Times”) Narrow portions have been widened, visibility on Lad corners lias been improved, and solid ferro-concrete bridges .'tow span tlie numerous gullies which for many vears were a trap for the unwary. A grader is at present working on this sectioli, and, besides laying muchneeded camber on tlie road, it is putting the watertables in such shape that there seems to be every possibility in the near future of this being one of the best pieces of road on the journey. An unusual find for this time of year (savs the “Wainiate Witness”) was a fine liorse-musliroom eight inches in diameter which was found on Mr. W. J. Hill’s farm on the Sutherland Road the other day.
