SAILORS’ FRIEND SOCIETY

Wellington residents were again to the fore in making tho lot of visiting seamen bright on Thursday at the Sailors Friend Society, where* Mrs. P. J. Townley was hostess. She and her performers were encored respectively. The performers were Mesdames A H. Sewell, P .1. Townlev, Miss Dencker, and Messrs. 11. Tombs, Phillips, Wellin.. Cotton, Gough. Mrs. A. H. Sewell was at the piano. The prizes for the competitions came from the hostess and a friend. They were eagerly fought for. and went to the Ruahine, Mamari, and Manama The vote of thanks revealed how fully the men had enjoyed the evening; it was responded to by the hostess.
