WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES At the afternoon call yesterday a sale of 5j per cent, stock at £lOO 15s. was made on 'Change, and sales were reported of Wellington Investment shares at 10s. 9d., youth British insurance at 575., and Burns, Philp and Co. at 395. Government stocks aud bonds were in lair demand, with buyers of the 4j per cents, at £96 12s. 6<1., aud the 5| per cents, at £lOO 12s. 6d. Wellington Racing Club debentures were firm at £lO6. Bank shares were quiet. There were buyers of Bank of New Zealand rights at 6s. fid., and Union Bank at £l5 4s. boilers quoted 235. !)d. for Commercial Bank, £45 10s. for Bank of New South Wales, aud 60s. 6d. for Bank of New Zealand. Financial shares were in better demand, with buyers of Goldsbrough Mort, and Co. at 495. 6d.. N.Z. Guarantee Corporation ordinary at 10s. 4d., N.Z. Loan .and Mercantile ordinary at £95 12s. 6d., Wellington Investment at 10s. 7d., and Wellington Trust and Loan nt £6 10s. N.Z. Shipping preference shares were in demand at £9, Wellington Woollen ordinary and preference at £6 10s., and Wellington Woollen new issue, calls paid in advance, at £6 (is. 6d.
