An inquest <xn Arthur Hasler (aged 36), tiie prisoner who met his death on Monday at Makaloke Viaduct prison quarry through a fall of earth was held before tiie District Coroner (Mr. A. S. Laird). After hearing lengthy evidence he returned a verdict of accidental death, and said lie would be failing in liis duty if he did not call the attention of the Justice Department to the fact that there was not a certificated quarryman in charge of tile work It was clear that the quarry was not non safe, nnd keener supervision in sucli places undoubtedly was necessary to safeguard human life.
