IMPORTANT HEALTH CONFERENCE

DR. WATT’S VISIT

To-dav Dr. M. 11. Watt, Deputy-Director-General of Health, will leave for Melbourne to represent the Dominion at a conference of health authorities from the countries bordering 011 the Pacific which is to consider matters relating to the transmission of infectious 'diseases between countries. Representatives will be present from Japan, America, Malay, etc., and also from Great Britain, the League of Nations, and the Samoan Administration. Great Britain will probably be represented bv Sir George Buchanan, of the British Ministry of Health, Dr. Norman White, deputy-head of the Health Section in the Secretariat, will attend on behalf of tlie League of Nations, and Dr. T. R. Ritchie is to represent the Samoati Administration. The conference will be held on December 15, and Dr. Watt expects to return to Wellington about Christmas time. He will prepare a report for presentation to the Government.
