— POOH BOOHED BY LOCAL

FURRIER

Dominion Special

Auckland, November 25.

While holding opinion that tastes in furs differ according to nationality, Air. M. Pizer, of Wellington, who returned from England bv the Aniwa after making a study of'conditions in the fur trade abroad, is sceptical about Lite reported Parisian discovery ol a silvery grey fur, produced bv a cross between a rabbit and another animal not disclosed by the jealous guardians of the “secret.” It was reported in a cablegram from London appearing on lucsdnv that the women of Paris were so enraptured with the product that they were paying £4OO tor a half length cape. “Rabbit fur is always restricted to the rabbit trade, and it can never go beyond it," said Mr. Pizer. “The statement that women are paving £4OO for a product such as this is ridiculous, for nothing approaching that price is paid for the choicest fur product of all -the Russian sable.” The report (in same cablegram, that skin produced from unborn calves was being introduced might be true, he said. It was no innovation and was well Knottn among furriers, although not widely encouraged. Whatever the tastes of Parisian ladies, there was no great fear, said Mr Pizer, that they would spread to New 'Zealand. The New Zealander was differently built physically and mentally and she favoured a class of furs much different from her. Parisian or London sisters and often more tasteful “But it would be unwise to take much notice of such a farcial message as that concerning rabbit cross,” said Mr Pizer. “To nie it appears to be part of a campaign of those who are Irving to injure the fur trade, the idea in this instance being to bring it into ridictile."
