Claiming to be the oldest volunteer in the Home Counties, Mr. W. C. Ellison, of Stamford Hill, who is now in his ninety-fifth year, enrolled in the 2nd Es'ex in 1860. Ono of the large radio companies estimates the number of valve sets in use in the world at about four and a half millions, and the number of crystal sets at a million less. Said to be the highest price ever paid for a single book, £55,000 has just been given for a Gutenberg Bible; there are believed to be only thirteen of these Billies in existence.
