INJURED IN COLLISION

MOTOR-CYCLIST AWARDED £633 DAMAGES.

Dominion Special. Christchurch, November 25. A • collision between a large meat van and a motor-cycle on the ChristchurchSockburn road on April 9, 1926, resulted in a claim for <£l2lB Ils. 9d., in the Supreme Court to-day, before Mr. Justice Stringer and a jury of twelve. Bernard Noel Thomas, of Darfield, farm manager, sued George Rao Bercy, of Christchurch, cartage conductor, for flic sum stated. Thomas alleged that Bercy was driving on his wrong side at an excessive speed, was not keeping a proper look-out, and did not exercise proper control of his van at the time of and immediately before the accident. Timinas described his injuries as a compound fracture of tho right tibia, wounds on the leg about an inch long, and wounds on the ankle joint, and on tho foot. Percy stated that he was on ins proper side until within seventy yards of tho scene of the accident. He pulled out wide to pass a gig. saw the motorcycle. and turned to the centio of the road again. The motor-cycle turned in the same direction. He thought that 'i’O motor-cyclist was free of him. but tie? motor-cycle struck the back of the van, missing the front. The jury awarded plaintiff £633 16s. 3d. damages, and judgment was entered accordingly, with costs.
