ENORMOUS KIDNEYS
AUCKLAND HEAVYWEIGHTS NOT A WORLD’S REC.ORD.
Wellington butchers were interested in the news from Auckland (published yesterday) that a pair of kidneys weighing il-llbs., had been discovered in a bullock recently purchased at the WestHeld market,. Whilst the weight of these kidneys is remarkable, Mr. M. S. Jones, butcher of Kiddiford Street, states that they are not by any means a world s record, as he has a note of a three-year-old heifer (which weighed 7001 b ), which produced kidneys weighing I3ljlb lhat animal was slaughtered at \\arracsnabeal. Victoria, some ten years ago, and the phenomenon was so remarkable that the hindquarters, showing the kiduejs, were photographed as well as paragraphed at the time. It seems very remarkable that, one-sixth of the total weight of an uniijinl should consist of the kidneys only.
