A munificent bequest, amounting to. £21,621), has been received by the Auckland Methodist Orphanage from the trustees of the late Mi. M illiaiu Winstone. Mr. Wmstciie, who died several vears ago, bequeathed to the orphanage £l('<X), together with the residue of his estate, comprising shares, mortgages, and other assets. These have now been handed over bv his trustees, and the full estimated value of the bequest was made known to-day to the Auckland Methodist Synod. In presenting the annual report of the the orphanage, tho Rev. S. Griffith stated that the board of management lead resolved to apply the bequest as it became available to meet capital liabilities on the l.psom Home, and when these had been wiped off, the balance would bo used for extension purposes, and in making the nucleus of an endowment fund. Lest anyone should imagine that the orphanage was greatly in funds, he would explain that not all the assets comprising the bequest were immediately realisable or fullv remunerative. . The following bequests notified during the vear were also reported Mrs. J. N Serre, Nedmarket. £2500 (approximately); Mr. W.Kisby. Wellington. £560 (subject to a life interest); Mr. W. J. Whitford, Mangere, £l6O and residence, valued at .£250 (approximately, eupjeet to a life interest): Mrs. Ann king, f’ukeknlm. £lOO (paid): Mrs. Anderson. Auckland .£.100: Mr-- •’ H. Townsend. Tnuranga £lou. , „ The Svnod expressed its grateful appreciation of the bequests.
