Some time ago a Lancashire family came out to Taranaki, having been nominated bv friends (relates the “Daily News”). Unfortunately, the latter w’ere unable to help the family on their arrival, and ultimately the head obtained employment with a local body. Some months elapsed One night the'Englishman was tending some cars that had been parked in the town when a stranger asked him lor direction to a certain institution. They got into conversation. “You’re from Lan- ’ cashire; what line did you follow there?” the stranger inquired. "Cotton weaver,” he said. The stranger was interested, took his name, and said he would hear further from him in the course of a few weeks And so he did, and with it came an offer of employment in an Australian mill, and all expenses for himself and family, Hie offer was accepted, and the Lancashire man is now across the Tasman and doing well. Thus men fall on their feet unexpectedly.
