DEMAND FOR HIGHER WAGES IN BRISBANE

The file brigadestnen in the Brisbane district have notified the Metropolitan Fire Board of their intention to go on strike pt 8 o'clock this morning. The men are said to be striving for the sama conditions for out-station men a» are now applied to those in the metropolitan area. The chairman of the Fire Board state* that steps have been taken to ensure as far as possible adequate protection of life and property. CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS (Rec. November 24, 10.55 p.m.) Brisbane, November 24. Members of the fire brigade struck in pursuance of their decision. The fire board is calling for volunteers, and is confident of meeting a satisfactory response.
