Dominion Special.
Wanganui, November 24. Considerable interest was aroused locally in the strange occurrence at Kaiwhaiki Pa, where a Maori.woman who was supposed to have died on Monday later showed signs of breathing, while the body was stone cold, all except the face. A number of people visited the pa. All signs of life ceased last evening, just over 48 hours from the time when she was laid out for burial. A young Maori when questioned about the mutter said: “filie is dead this time all right. Dead on Monday, too, all right, but the tobunga keep the head part alive. Not. want her to dio until al] the messages pass between them.” The tangi is now proceeding without any uncanny interruptions, although it. is reported that some of the Maoris bad an anxious time until all doubts were dispelled.
