Dominion Special. . Foxton, November 21. Last night the final ceremony in connection with the swimming baths carnival was held in the lioyal Theatre. The hall was completely filled and a good programme was submitted by Palmerston North and local talent. At a suitable juncture the Mayor (Mr. M. E. Perreau) announced amidst prolonged applause that the sports queen (Miss M. Stevenson) had been tlie sucessful candidate.,- The results are as follow: Miss Mona Stevenson' (Sports), 29.040 (A‘3(i3), 1; Miss E. .Moore (.Fibre), 24;9(>0 votes (.£312), 2; Miss N. Spring (Qitizens), 13,813 votes (AT73 13s. 2d.), 3, Last Wednesday a welcome was extended to Commissioner and Airs. Hay, of the Salvation Army, in the Royal Theatre, on the occasion of their visit to Foxton. The Commissioner, who was accompanied by Brigadier MacCauley, and Mrs. Hny, were given a hearty welcome bv the Mayor (Mr. M. E. Petreau); the Rev. W. H. Walton (Church of England), Mr. J. Chrystall (Methodist, acting in the unavoidable absence of the Rev. S. Peryman), and Air. J. K. Hornblow (Presbyterian). The Commissioner and Airs. Hay. in brief speeches, 'acknowledged the vehonie. Tile rest of the evening was taken t.«p with a demonstration bv the children connected with the Jocal corps. Airs. Hay distributed prizes, consisting of a large number of books, io the children. The entertainment as a whole, reflected credit upon Captain and Airs. Stone's patient training of the little ones, who displayed great talent.
