Manv pedestrians who passed by the Auckland Meat Company’s shop in Upper Symonds Street this morning, and wlio chanced to look in the window, stopped to gaze at what appeared to be nothing more than two huge lumps of fat. Had anyone been inquisitive enough to go in and inquire what they were, he would have been informed that they were the kidneys of an ox; tn fact, they constituted the world’s record for ox kidneys, weighing Hllb. Mr W. Davis, of the Auckland Meat Company, stated that during his long experience as a butcher he had never seen anything like them For twenty years be had been a butcher in London, and was positive that they were a world’s record The bullock from which thev liad been taken was one of approximately 9001 b weight, and had been bought in at the Westfield stock market. It was perfectly healthy in all respects, and had been reared by Mr R. H. Bailev, of Ohinewai. in the Waikato. During the morning a numbei of butchers and farmers viewed the exhibit, and all were of opinion that it was a world’s record.
