COMPULSORY MEDICAL EXAMINATION

FOR PEOPLE OVER FORTY Dominion Special. Christchurch, November 24 “If everyone over 40 years of age were medically examined once a year many troubles would he nipped in the bud and much suffering and also expense to the board would be saved,” declared the Rev. Clyde Carr at to-day’s meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital Board. Mr. Carr moved that a remit should be submitted at the annual conference of the Dominion Hospital Boards’ Association in Christchurch on March 2, to the effect that tln-e should be a compulsorymedical examination of all persons over 10 years of age. “It is just a try out,” explained Mr. Carr. "Does it include a mental examination?” asked Mr. XV. E. Leadley. A remark by another member that some members of the board might fear a mental examination caused laughter. The remit was agreed to.
