NAVAL FUNERAL

SEAMAN WELCH LAID TO REST. Dominion Special. Auckland, November 24. Naval honours were accorded at th® funeral of able seamen Richard Welch, of H.M.S. Diomede, who died at the Auckland Hospital after a brief illness, at the age of 27. The Diomede is now in Wellington, but there was a good attendance of the shin’s company of H.M.S. Philomel, in charge of S. Chapman, warrant ofticer. A firing party of twelve from the Philomel fired a volley over the grave. The burial service was read by the Rev. J. Beaufort, naval chaplain.
