SEAFARERS’ THANKS

(To the Editor). Sir,—On behalf of the crew of the steamer Tamaroa, which will bo leaving for London in a day or two, we desire to express through the columns of your paper our sincere appreciation and thanks to the local officials of the British Sailors’ Society for the very kind way in which they have entertained us during our stay in this port. The British Sailors’ Society is noted for its open door policy for all sailors at its various sailors’ rests throughout the world, and its Wellington branch is well in the front rank in comparison w-ith its other branches in regard to the hospitality, end good times provided for the visiting sailors, in fact none of us have had more enjoyable evenings on shore anywhere than wo have had provided for us here. Messrs. Padman, Armstrong, Brown and others, and the kind young ladies assisting them, have indeed made our stay in this port quite a pleasant one, and we will look with pleasure to the time when we will be back again on the return trip. Those of us who have been here before were much impressed_with the improved Accommodation provided at the new rooms in Lower Cuba Street, to which the society has removed since our last visit. These spacious rooms will enable the kind-hearted folk ministering to th* religions and social needs of the sailors to carry on their work to better advantage to us, and with more satisfaction to themselves. Wo thank them heartily for their kind hospitality and wish them every success in their volnntarv good work, and we will esteem it A great favour if you will kindly publish this letter of our appreciation.— I am. etc., G. WEIGHT. .T. J. CHAMBERLAIN. For the Seamen.
