STEAMER SUVA HELD UP
TROUBLE OVER BUTCHER’S ENGAGEMENT CREW PAID OFF Sydney, November 23. •When the steamer Suva was ready to sail for Fiji trouble arose over the engagement of a butcher. The cooks refused to sail without one. The trouble apparently arose over a claim for compensation by a butcher on another of the Australian United Steam Navigation Company’s steamers, which the Cooks’ Union alleged was not properly met. As no butcher for the Suva was offering, the crew were paid off and the vessel’s sailing has been postponed indefinitely.
