BEAUTIES ENJOYING THEMSELVES
AUCKLAND STILL ENTHUSIASTIC Dominion Special. Auckland, November 23. “Miss New Zealand” and her Maid of Honour continue tq enjoy the greatest popularity Aucklanders are able to lavish upon them. Both girls cause remarkable interest when they drive through the citv streets, and whenever the car stops they are soon surrounded by tremendous crowds who cheer and clap them. This morning “Miss New Zealand” called on the manager of the bcautv contest at the “Star” office and while' transacting business the car in Shortland Street attracted a big crowd, which gave Miss McMillan a wonderful send-off when she left. During her visit to the “Star” she was introduced to Sir Henry Brett, who offered Ins heartiest congratulations. Both Miss McMillan and her maid of honour spent the last two days gathering gifts from the various citv firms “Miss New Zealand” and her maid of honour are appearing nightly with the other finalists at the Majestic Theatre before packed and most enthusiastic audiences, which proves that the interest in the contest did not finish when “Miss New Zealand” was chosen. Both girls are very well and happy. Miss Isobel Wilson wants all friends in Wellington to know that she is looking forward to coming back to them. She thanks all who sent her congratulatory messages. Miss Doreen McCubbin also continues to enjoy herself immensely. She sends her love to the Wellington people. . All the girls with the exception of Miss Canterbury and her maid of honour who left for their home to-night are remaining in Auckland till the end of the week. “Mrs. New Zealand” (Mrs. A. Law) is with them.
