WADESTOWN PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION
ANNEAL MEETING. Mr. G. Carwell Cooke presided over a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Wadcstown and Highland Park Progressive Association last night. The annual report referred to tlie success that had attended llie association's efforts during Hie year in securing the inauguration of a tram service on Sunday mornings, the acquiring of that portion of the Lowe estate which lies between the tramline, the main road and Moorhouse Street, and the inauguration of a bus service between the tram terminus and the scenic reserve on Sundays and holidays. In moving the adoption of the report, tlie chairman said tlie City Council had now recognised Wadestown’s needs, but the most insistent demand was the provision of reasonable access to the city, and there was nothing to prevent the formation of a good roadway. Wadestown had not received a penny from the 1920 loan. hut had paid its share of the jnferest charges. The onlv way to pet results was to support the association and keep at the council.
The foilnwine office-bearers were elected: Patron. Sir Harold Beauchamp; president. Mr. G. Carwell Cooke; vicepresidents, Messrs. S. G Nathan, E. J. Wiffen. F. J. Haise. W. Ellis. A. Parlnne, W. P. Maule: secretary, Mr. M. Simpson; treasurer. Mr. A. Parlane; auditor. Mr. G. T. Withers: committee. Messrs. Colin Gray, Philp, Lyle, Salt. Stace, Cooke and Grainger.
