ARMED RAIDERS
ATTACK BARRACKS IN DUBLIN
DARING HOLD UP OF A MOTOR-CAR
London, November 21.
Eight armed men motored to the Civic Guards’ barracks in Dublin, and when the sentry refused them admission opened fire, shattering the windows and wounding a policeman. The guards used revolvers, wounding one of the raiders. A flying squad later searched Republicans’" houses in the vicinity and eight arrests were made. A daring hold-up took place at Athenry (Galway), where two armed and masked men stopped a motor-car, in which an overseer was carrying workmen’s wages. They seized the money and decamped.—Sydney “Sun” Cable.
STATE OF EMERGENCY .
Dublin. November 21.
The executive has issued., a proclamation that a state of emergency exists in consequence of the raids, and numerous arrests are expected. SIXTEEN MORE RAIDS (Rec. November 22, 8.15 p.m.) London, November 22. Sixteen raids followed the proclamation of a state of emergency in the Free State and resulted in fifty arrests. The offices of Republican newspapers were searched and current issues confiscated. >
