KHANDALLAH AFFAIRS

THE PROGRESS ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the Khaniallah Progress /issociation was called tor last evening to consider the nomination of candidates for the City Council. Hospital Board, and the Harbour Board, at the next municipal elections. Owing to the poor attendance, however, it was decided to postpone discussion on the question, and to consider nominations at a general meeting of Khandallah residents at a later date. In furtherance of his candidature for the Mayoralty, Councillor O. A. Troup briefly addressed those present. He stressed the need for discussion on important council matters being taken in open council, so that ratepayers would know the views of individual councillors. ''To go into committee.’’ added Mr. Troup, “to discuss questions of vital public interest. was most inadvisable on the part of the Mayor and councillors."
