The Australian sportsman Mr. Otway Falkiiier returned to Sydney by the Ulimaroa, after spending the best part of a week in Hawke’s Bay, where he was the guest of Mr. W. G. Stead. Mr. Falkiner thinks of returning to the Dominion in January next, and, in any case, his present intention is to return to the Dominion a year hence with a team of his own with which he will take part in the holiday meeting at
Auckland and Wellington January meeting. The presence of a racing team from Australia, which would probably include one or two of Australia’s cracks (on lease), would add greatly to the interest of the meetings of the two North Island clubs. The only purchase made in the Dominion bv Mr. Falkiner on this occasion was that of the five-year-old Absurd gelding Fool’s Paradise, from Mr. E. Riddiford, although several other horses were priced on his behalf. Fool’s Paradise was shipped to Messrs. H. Chisholm and Company, of Svdnev, on Friday last by Mr. Falkiner’s New Zealand agents, Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Company, Ltd.
