MAGISTERIAL INQUIRY

The following letter was forwarded by the Rev. Howard Elliott yesterday to Mr. \V. G. Riddell, S.M.: — “I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt this morning of formal notice that you, at the request of the Honourable the Minister of Justice, will hold an inquiry at the Police Court on Tuesday, November 23, into certain allegations relating to the treatment of Sidney Erne Baumc whilst in the terrace Gaol “With all due difference to yourself, I desire to intimate that, for reasons already stated bv me in interviews given to the Pre'ss, I will not appear at the inquiry.”
