GORGE SLIP

EXPLOSIVES AND SLUICES IN USE Palmerston North, November 19. The further use ol explosives in ccuinection with the slip on the railwav line in the Manawatu Gorge has resulted in the removal of the concrete wall, which has in consequence freed the threatened slip at another point, and precipitated the debris into the river below. In addition a fresh intake of water for sluicing purposes has been made, and generally conditions are much improved for the task of washing away the mass of earth.
