NEW MOTOR TRACK AND CAMP

The work ol the Department of Internal Affairs in clearing a half-chain motor track running parallel with the Tongariro River is moving fast. The track when completed will give readv access to some 15 miles of river streten and will include many of the famous fishing pools of the river. Five miles on the eastern bank of the ri 'cr r.te not included, being under European title, and therefore not subject to the recent negotiations between the Crown and the Natives. It is hoped tint tins stretch will ultimately be included as a result of negotiation with the European owners, whose titles in each case extend to the middle of the flowing waters of the river, and include most magnificent stretches. Camping sites have also been cleared and provided for in nicelv-situatcd spots along the river embankment. Permits for these camp ing sites can be obtained by license holders only at a small fee. monthly for each party, not exceeding six persons.
