Upon the invitation of the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company and Captain Hartman, members of the Navy League Executive, Women’s Auxiliary Committee, and Girls’ Branch Committee visited the new steamer Tamaroa at Pipitea Wharf. ' Captain Hartman received the guests, who were shown over the ship, and were most interested in the extremely modern arrangements. Tea and ices were served in the veranda cafe,' the ship’s orchestra placing in the adjoining smoking room.. Captain Hartman spoke in appreciation of the work of the Navy League, which is, he said, much valued by the mercantile marine. In the unavoidable absence of the president, Sir A. Roberts, Mr. Hollis briefly replied and thanked Captain Hartman for the hospitality extended to them. Among those present were Mr. and Airs.
