The Minister of Public Works (Hon. K. S. Williams) returned yesterday from tIK West Coast, where he had been inspecting the recent flood damage. The Minister of Lands (Hon. A. D. McLeod) will return to Wellington tomorrow from Auckland. The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice and' Defence (Hon. F J. Rolleston) will leave to-night for 1 intaru. He is to return to Wellington on Tuesday. While escorting a party of visitors over then Karitane Home, now in the course of construction. Sir Truby King yesterday suffered a severe fall through some loose woodwork, and it was .believed that he has fractured two ribs. Councillor W. 11. Friends of Captain W. 11. Cottrell, C.M.G., O W B.IL, R.N.V.R., will regret to learn that he passed away at an early hour on November 18 in a .private nursing home, after.a short illness. The late Captain Cottrell served in the Gallipoli campaign, and was the recipient of a number of foreign decorations, including the Legion d’Honneur. Captain Cottrell was a visitor to this country, this being his second visit within the past two years for the purpose of being near his daughter, Mrs. M. L. A. Axworthy.
