PROPOSED PUBLICATIONS TAN. Sydney, November 17. The ■ “Sytlney Morning Herald” states that' it is learned on good authority that the publications tax mentioned in Dlr. Lang’s Budget speech will take the form of a tax of a halfpenny upon every newspaper or periodical issued in the State, whether a charge is made for such paper or not.
COST OF NEW LABOUR AWARDS
Sydney. November 17. In the course of his Budget speech, the Premier (Mr. Lang) mentioned that increases under Arbitration Court awards and by’ the operation of the forty-four hour week cost the Government £612,000 in the, last financial year.'
