Roliert Basil Story, of Piopio, was charged in the Magistrate’s Court to-day with .nakmg a false declaration to the Registrar of Marriages, saying that his wife was 21 years old when lie married her. whereas'she was 17. His motive for doing so was that he thought the marriage might not be approved. It «ns stated that the police were impressed with tlio frank admissions of lefendant, and that both he and his wife belonged to respected families. Defendant. v-.no pleaded guilty, was com nitted to fhe Supremo Court for sentence.
