Three young men had an exciting exlierieuce on the Oamaru breakwater recently (says the “Mail”). They ’had bec-u fishing from tho end of the wall, and when returning a huge wave swept over, carrying one of the young men into tho harbour. Another nearly shared the same fate, but an old bolt head caught in his trousers. A fishing launch that, was entering tho harbour noticed the incident, and made for tho scene, but the two young men on the breakwater were able to help their comrade out. H>'d the latter not been a good swimmer the result would probably have not been so favourable. Last vear British railways carried nearly 75 million parcels, 278 million gallons of milk, 33,843 tons of meat, and 473,738 tons of fish.
